BetMGM becomes Minnesota Vikings partner in Canada & launches new LuckyTap game
BetMGM has added a new Vikings-branded casino game for players in Canada, with Vikings Big Kick LuckyTap now live in Ontario and Alberta. The launch comes alongside a new agreement that makes BetMGM an official sponsor of the Minnesota Vikings in Canada, allowing the operator to use Vikings branding across online casino products, sports betting services, and marketing activities.
The partnership was confirmed in an announcement published on Thursday, September 10. While the NFL team is based in Minneapolis, the deal is aimed specifically at the Vikings’ Canadian fanbase, leaning on the franchise’s popularity north of the border.
Geography and market access are a key part of the timing. Minnesota borders two Canadian provinces, Manitoba and Ontario, and BetMGM has operated online casino and sportsbook entertainment in Ontario since 2022. The operator also now has a foothold in Alberta, after the province moved away from a monopoly-style gambling market in July 2026 in favor of a competitive iGaming industry, opening the door for BetMGM to bring the Vikings brand into a second Canadian province.
The first game produced from the tie-up is Vikings Big Kick LuckyTap, a mobile-optimized online casino title developed by Design Works Gaming. It’s set on a virtual version of the Vikings’ home field at US Bank Stadium, with the end zone styled in the team’s familiar purple branding. Behind the goalposts, the game uses advertising boards that place the Norseman emblem alongside the BetMGM emblem in a scrolling LED-style box similar to what fans see during real NFL games.
Gameplay centres on tapping the screen to “kick” the ball between the goalposts. When a kick is successful, a multiplier shows in the middle of the goal frame, and nearby symbols including footballs, Lombardi Trophies, and MVP award trophies turn into win values.
BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said the operator is looking to combine “sports fandom with iGaming,” while Vikings Chief Marketing Officer Martin Nance framed the partnership as a way to deepen connections with fans across Canada and create new experiences tied to Vikings football.
Player angle: Team-branded casino games and sportsbook tie-ins tend to snowball, so this deal is a good signal for more NFL-themed content and promos in newly competitive markets. Check our casino bonuses guide before putting money anywhere.
