BBB in Virginia Warns Customers Over Crown Coins Sweepstakes Casino

A consumer watchdog in Central Virginia is warning players to avoid Crown Coins, a sweepstakes casino that uses “sweep coins” to let users redeem cash rewards while presenting itself as free-to-play social gaming.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) says Crown Coins isn’t fully regulated under state laws and points to what it calls a “pattern of complaints,” including reports from players who say they were unable to redeem, or had difficulty redeeming, rewards.

In its notice, the BBB says it has logged 363 customer complaints about the operator. It also says it could not locate a physical office for the business, which it identifies as being based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The BBB has assigned Crown Coins an “F” rating, the lowest possible grade on its A+ to F scale. The rating is tied to customer reports and concerns around complaint history, business responsiveness, and transparency.

Crown Coins has pushed back on the redemption concerns, saying certain withdrawal requests weren’t honored due to breaches of its terms and conditions. The company also says some redemption attempts were invalid because users tried to use payment methods, including debit or credit cards, that were not issued in their own name.

The warning lands as sweepstakes-style models face growing scrutiny from lawmakers across the United States, with legislators arguing that sweep coins can enable casino-style gaming for real money; the report notes that several states have taken action, with New Jersey and Minnesota cited as recent examples.
