Hamsterdam
Wicked Games has added another irreverent title to its catalogue with Hamsterdam, a slot that swaps the usual fruit, candy or mythology dressing for a stoned hamster and a red-light-district cast of pimps, madams and strippers. It is not a subtle game, but it backs the humour with a genuinely different structure across its base game and bonus round.
The action runs on a 5x4 grid with 20 paylines, paying left to right in the base game and both ways once the respin feature kicks in. Stakes range from $/€0.20 up to $/€400, and the math model is pitched as highly volatile with a theoretical return to player of 96.1%. Symbols include five types of dubious bottles, a prophylactic, a hash cake, a bong, a wind-up walking nose and a hamster, with five matching bottles paying 2x the bet and the top symbols worth 5x-15x. A wild appears on every reel in the base game, substituting for everything but the scatter and paying 50x the bet for five in a line.
Landing two scatters triggers a Double Dose Respin, turning those scatters into sticky wilds and awarding another respin any time a new wild lands, with wins paying both directions until the reels stop adding wilds. Three, four or five scatters instead send players Upstairs, into the game's headline bonus, worth 8, 10 or 12 free spins respectively.
The Upstairs Bonus plays out on a 5x6 grid where only the bottom two rows start unlocked, with Nuts, Hammers, Keys and blanks the only symbols that can land. Peanuts pay 2x-8x, Walnuts 10x-50x and Hazelnuts a chunky 100x-1,000x, and any Nut that isn't collected stays on the reels. Keys hand out one to three extra spins once they land on unlocked ground, while Hammers open up two to six locked positions so more of that Nut value becomes collectable. Three doors alongside the grid can release up to three characters per spin, each carrying out its own modifying effect, before all collected and unlocked Nut values are added together for the final payout.
Players who don't want to wait can nudge the odds with three optional buys. Happy Hour doubles the stake to triple the chance of hitting three or more scatters, Swing Both Ways costs 10x to guarantee two scatters and a Double Dose Respin, and Skip the Line costs 145x the stake to guarantee at least three scatters and a straight route into the Upstairs Bonus.
All of that machinery is built toward a maximum win of 10,000x the stake, giving the comedy some real teeth. Hamsterdam won't be to every taste given its adult, drug-and-nightlife theme, but for players who've grown tired of interchangeable slot themes, it's a distinctive addition to Wicked Games' growing lineup of risqué titles, and one likely to show up across a wide range of online casinos serving UK, Australian, Canadian and US players in the coming weeks.
